Na de schietpartijen in het Amerikaanse Atlanta, Georgia en Boulder, Colorado, waarbij in totaal achttien mensen het leven lieten, hebben tal van Hollywoodfiguren een oproep gedaan om de Amerikaanse wapenwet te herzien.

“Dit is geen manier van leven,” schrijft Julianne Moore op Instagram. “Onze leiders zijn ons meer dan hun medeleven verschuldigd. Ze moeten actie ondernemen.”

“Een pandemie kan niet het enige zijn dat het aantal schietpartijen in dit land doet afnemen,” tweet Barack Obama. “Het wordt tijd dat onze leiders naar het Amerikaanse volk luisteren en dat zegt: ‘Genoeg is genoeg’.”
