Leonardo DiCaprio en een aantal andere sterren boycotten vandaag vierentwintig uur lang Facebook en Instagram uit protest tegen de haatberichten en foutieve informatie die op de sociale media-platformen worden verspreid.

De actie heet Stop Hate for Profit en werd in het leven geroepen door een aantal burgerrechtenorganisaties uit de Verenigde Staten zoals de National Association for the Advancement of Colored People en de Anti Defamation League.

Naast DiCaprio boycotten ook onder meer Sacho Baron Cohen, Mark Ruffalo, Sebastian Stan, Judd Apatow, Amy Schumer, Kate Hudson, Sarah Silverman, Rosario Dawson en Kerry Washington de hele dag Facebook en Instagram.
