Op het filmfestival van Venetië heeft de jury onder leiding van Bong Joon Ho de Gouden Leeuw uitgereikt aan de Franse film L’événement van Audrey Diwan.

Jane Campion won Beste Regisseur voor The Power of the Dog en Paolo Sorrentino’s È stata la mana di Dio aka The Hand of God won zowel de Grote Juryprijs als de award voor Beste Jonge Acteur (Filippo Scotti).
