Op zondag 7 maart heeft de Critics Choice Association, een vereniging van Amerikaanse en Canadese film- en tv-critici, de 26e Critics Choice Awards uitgereikt, een belangrijke voorbode van de Oscars.

Nomadland werd de grote winnaar in de filmcategorieën en sleepte Beste Film, Beste Regisseur (Chloé Zhao), Beste Bewerkte Scenario (Zhao) en Beste Cinematografie (Joshua James Richards) in de wacht.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom won drie prijzen: Beste Acteur (Chadwick Boseman), Beste Kostuumontwerp (Ann Roth) en Beste Haar en Make-up.

In de categorie Beste Montage wonnen zowel de Belgische productie Sound of Metal (Mikkel E. G. Nielsen) en The Trial of the Chicago 7 (Alan Baumgarten).
