In Los Angeles zijn op 4 april de 27e Screen Actors Guild Awards uitgereikt.

Aaron Sorkins The Trial of the Chicago 7 won Beste Cast en Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom won zowel Beste Acteur in een Hoofdrol (Chadwick Boseman) als Beste Actrice in een Hoofdrol (Viola Davis).

De SAG Awards waren goed voor verschillende primeurs. Zo waren de vier winnaars in de individuele acteercategorieën voor het eerst allemaal niet-blank en won Youn Yuh-Jung voor Minari als eerste Koreaanse Actrice de award voor Beste Actrice in een Bijrol.

Michael Keaton werd door zijn rol in The Trial of the Chicago 7 dan weer de eerste acteur die drie SAG Awards voor Beste Cast in de wacht sleepte. Hij won eerder al voor Birdman en Spotlight.
