Veroordeling Harvey Weinstein gevierd als #MeToo-overwinning in Hollywood
Harvey Weinstein werd door een jury in New York schuldig bevonden aan seksuele aanranding en verkrachting in de derde graad en dat heeft in Hollywood heel wat tevreden reacties uitgelokt.
Hoewel pas op 1 maart duidelijk wordt welke straf Weinstein krijgt en zijn advocaten reeds plannen smeden om in beroep te gaan wordt de veroordeling gezien als een overwinning voor de #MeToo-beweging.
Onder meer Ashley Judd, wiens aanklacht van seksuele intimidatie tegen Weinstein vorig jaar werd verworpen door een rechter, en Ronan Farrow, die de beschuldigingen tegen Weinstein aan het licht bracht in The New Yorker, reageren op Twitter.
Dat geldt ook voor Anthony Rapp en Gretchen Carlson, die respectievelijk Kevin Spacey en Roger Alies beschuldigden van seksueel misbruik, #MeToo-oprichtster Tarana Burke, Time’s Up-CEO Tina Tchen, activiste Rose McGowan en vele anderen.
