De Los Angeles Film Critics Association heeft Steve McQueens vijfdelige anthologie Small Axe uitgeroepen tot de Beste Film van 2020. Small Axe bestaat uit de films Lovers Rock, Mangrove, Red, White and Blue, Alex Wheatle en Education.

Verder won Chadwick Boseman postuum Beste Acteur voor Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Riz Ahmed werd tweede voor Sound of Metal van het Belgische productiehuis Caviar.

In de categorie Beste Mannelijke Bijrol moest Sound of Metal-acteur Paul Raci de duimen leggen voor Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom-acteur Glynn Thurman.
