Hoewel de film vernietigende recensies kreeg, is er een Oscarcampagne gelanceerd voor The Fanatic. De thriller van Limp Bizkit-frontman Fred Durst gaat over een hardnekkige fan (John Travolta) die zijn idool (Devon Sawa) stalkt.

Als Travolta tegen de verwachtingen genomineerd wordt in de categorie Beste Acteur, zal hij het mogelijk opnemen tegen Joaquin Phoenix (Joker), Robert De Niro (The Irishman) en Adam Driver (Marriage Story).
