Morten Tydlums historische biopic The Imitation Game met Benedict Cumberbatch in de hoofdrol heeft de Grolsch People’s Choice Award weggekaapt op het Toronto International Film Festival. De film behandelt het leven van de Britse wiskundige en codebreker Alan Turing. Isabel Coixets Learning to Drive en St. Vincent met Bill Murray kregen een speciale vermelding.

De People’s Choice Midnight Madness Award ging helaas niet naar Welp, maar wel naar What We Do In The Shadows. De film is een mockumentary over een trio vampiers dat vertoeft in Nieuw-Zeeland.
