Hollywood herdenkt Do the Right Thing-acteur Danny Aiello
De Amerikaanse acteur Danny Aiello is op 86-jarige leeftijd overleden. Hij was onder meer bekend van Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing waarin hij pizzeria-uitbater Sal vertolkte. De rol leverde hem een Oscarnominatie op.
Aiello maakte zijn acteerdebuut in Bang the Drum Slowly met een jonge Robert De Niro uit 1973. Later dook hij op in Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America, de Woody Allen-films The Purple Rose of Cairo en Radio Days en de romcom Moonstruck.
Verschillende Hollywood-sterren hebben een laatste groet gebracht aan Aiello op sociale media, waaronder Lee, The Purple Rose of Cairo– en Radio Days-actrice Mia Farrow en Moonstruck-ster Cher.
