Op zondag 28 februari vonden de 78e Golden Globe Awards plaats. De ceremonie ging in ware coronastijl door met vooraf opgenomen presentaties, ontvangstspeeches via Zoom en live opnames op afstand zowel in Los Angeles als New York. Dat verliep niet bepaald vlekkeloos.

Nomadland won Beste Film – Drama en Beste Regisseur (Chloé Zhao) en Borat Subsequent Moviefilm won Beste Film – Musical of Komedie en Beste Acteur – Musical of Komedie (Sacha Baron Cohen).

Ook Soul viel twee keer in de prijzen en won Beste Animatiefilm en Beste Originele Score (Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross en Jon Batiste).
