Daags na de Golden Globes- zijn ook de Screen Actors Guild Awards-nominaties bekendgemaakt. Omdat de acteursvakbond en de Academy veel leden gemeen hebben worden de SAG Awards als een belangrijke voorbode van de Oscars beschouwd.

Riz Ahmed werd genomineerd in de categorie Beste Acteur in een hoofdrol voor Sound of Metal van het Belgische productiehuis Caviar.

Verder kreeg Chadwick Boseman postuum twee nominaties: één voor Beste Acteur in een Hoofdrol (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) en één voor Beste Acteur in een Bijrol (Da 5 Bloods).
