De Amerikaanse filmticketservice Fandango heeft bij ruim duizend Amerikanen tussen de achttien en vierendertig jaar gepeild naar hun favoriete eindejaarsfilms.

Home Alone werd verkozen tot de beste eindejaarsfilm voor het hele gezin, gevolgd door Elf en The Santa Clause. Die Hard haalde het dan weer van Edward Scissorhands en Gremlins in de categorie ‘Beste onconventionele kerstfilm’.

Tim Allens vertolking van de kerstman in The Santa Clause werd uitgeroepen tot de beste aller tijden met Ed Asner (Elf) en Billy Bob Thornton (Bad Santa) op de tweede en derde plek.

Verder moest Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) uit Die Hard de duimen leggen voor het inbrekersduo Harry and Marv (Joe Pesci en Daniel Stern) uit Home Alone in de categorie ‘Beste slechteriken in een eindejaarsfilm’.
