Eind 2020 polste de entertainmentnieuwssite IndieWire naar jaarlijkse gewoonte bij ruim 200 critici van overal ter wereld naar hun favoriete films van het afgelopen jaar.

De top tien werd eerder onthuld, met Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland op nummer één, en nu heeft IndieWire de volledige top vijftig online gezet.

Op de twintigste plaats staat Sound of Metal van het Belgische productiehuis Caviar en op de vijfenveertigste plaats staat Le jeune Ahmed van Jean-Pierre en Luc Dardenne.
