Black Panther-acteur Chadwick Boseman overleden
Chadwick Boseman is op 43-jarige leeftijd overleden aan darmkanker, een ziekte waar hij in stilte al vier jaar mee kampte. De acteur was vooral bekend van zijn rol als T’Challa aka Black Panther in het Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Verder was hij te zien in Fabrice Du Welz’ Message from the King, Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, Brian Kirks 21 Bridges, in Tate Taylors Get On Up als James Brown en in Brian Helgelands 42 als honkballer Jackie Robinson. Zijn laatste film is een bewerking van George C. Wolfes theaterstuk Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
“Het was de grootste eer van zijn carrière om T’Challa tot leven te mogen wekken in Black Panther,” laat Bosemans familie weten op Twitter. “Hij is thuis gestorven, met zijn vrouw en familie aan zijn zijde.”
“Chadwicks dood is hartverscheurend,” reageert Marvel Studios-hoofd Kevin Feige. “Hij was onze T’Challa, onze Black Panther en onze goede vriend.”
“Telkens hij de set betrad, straalde hij charisma en vreugde uit en telkens hij op het scherm verscheen, creëerde hij iets onvergetelijks. Hij was even slim, vriendelijk en sterk als de personages die hij speelde.”
Ook op sociale media hebben tal van acteurs, regisseurs en Marvel-collega’s een laatste groet uitgebracht aan Boseman, waaronder Du Welz en Adil & Bilall.
